Top Ten Places Books Have Made Me Want To Visit (whether fictional or real)

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
Welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday! I'm doing well with keeping up with these, I'm pretty proud of myself. This week is "Top Ten Places Books have Made Me Want To Visit" so I'm going to try and do a mixture of real places and fiction, tell you what book made me want to go there and explain why! I found this topic incredibly difficult, so I'm sorry that there isn't ten this week, I'll try again on the next one!

Amsterdam

Book: The Fault in our Stars by John Green

I feel like this might be on a few peoples list's but anyway, the way Amsterdam is described in this book (and the way it looks in the film) just made me really want to go. I'm not one for travelling and I haven't been to very many places but I sure as hell want to go to Amsterdam before I kick the bucket!

McLean Hospital

Book: Girl Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen and The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath

Yeah, this is a bit of a strange one. But I do love the idea of visiting this place, both Susanna Kaysen and Sylvia Plath have been admitted to this hospital as well as a few other well known names. If you read my blog regularly you know how interested I am in mental illness and this would definitely have to be a place that I visit.

Middle Earth

Book: The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit by J.R.R.Tolkein

I doubt I really needed to put what book Middle Earth is from, I doubt there are very many people that haven't heard of it. I read this series a very long time ago, when i was about 10 years old, but I do remember really loving the world, who doesn't want to live in a world with elves I mean c'mon?

Genovia

Book: The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot

I know what you're thinking, wow that's really sad. But I just adored these books when I was little! Genovia was a place that I had never heard of until these books and the place just sounds absolutely magical.

Sorry this was such a short one! But I haven't read anything like harry potter or percy jackson so this was quite a difficult one for me! Especially because most of the books I read are generally depressing and do not make me want to visit somewhere. What did you chose?

  1. I can totally understand why you would want to visit Genovia, it looks amazing! Middle Earth - quite obvious, really doesn't need any explanation. It sounds awesome and in the movies, it looks absolutely stunning! (Maybe I should just go to New-Zealand instead).

  2. I know NZ has this entire Hobbit town place... honestly, it's probably about as close as I'm going to get to ever going anywhere from the books I love, so I definitely agree with you on that one! And Genovia! So sad it's not real :( haha.
